Stand4LIFE May 7th, 2011
Posted on Monday, Mar 28th, '11 by Evan Olsen
Stand4LIFE is a movement to end abortion in the state of Florida. On Saturday, May 7th, thousands will gather at abortion clinics all over the state standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer -- asking God to end abortion, increase adoptions and send revival to Florida. As we pray for our government to uphold life, we have a responsibility in our own region to be a witness. The church is required to be the conscience of America. Let’s start in our own backyards.

On May 7, thousands will gather in silent prayer from 10am-12pm, covering every abortion center in Florida. We will lay aside our denominational differences and preferences to be the demonstration of justice for those who have no voice. We will come as a silent force with one message: LIFE.

From Florida House Majority Office:
CRIST’S VETO BRINGS TAXPAYER FUNDED ABORTIONS TO FLORIDA FOR FIRST TIME
-“You Can Trust Me” Crist told Pro-Life Floridians-

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Today, with his veto of House Bill (HB) 1143, Governor Charlie Crist chose to force Florida taxpayers to pay for elective abortions for the first time.

Crist, who has repeatedly declared that pro-life Floridians could trust him to support their efforts, went back on his word and vetoed the only major legislation dealing with abortion presented to him during his term as governor.

Recent federal health care legislation gave states the opportunity to opt-out of federal provisions using tax dollars to be used to subsidize insurance plans that fund elective abortions. Provisions to ensure taxpayer dollars were not used to pay for elective abortions were contained in HB 1143, and tens of thousands of Floridians, including U.S. Senator George LeMieux (R-Florida)-who was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Crist- Attorney General Bill McCollum and Crist’s Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp asked for Crist to sign those measures.

Restricting the use of taxpayer dollars for abortions has been the policy of our nation for over three decades. In 1976, an overwhelming Democratic-controlled United States House of Representatives passed the Hyde Amendment, which barred publicly-funded abortions.

Florida has never offered taxpayer funded elective abortions. Exceptions for cases of rape or incest, or situations where the life of the mother is in danger are specifically provided for in both the Hyde amendment and in HB 1143.

HB 1143 also contained provisions designed to streamline the Agency for Health Care Administration and save Florida taxpayers an estimated $1.3 million annually by reducing state administrative costs and Medicaid expenditures.

Additionally, HB 1143 also established as the state’s policy that a person may not be compelled by federal, state or local governments to purchase health insurance or services. The federal legislation that allows taxpayer dollars to subsidize abortions also contained provisions mandating that every individual be forced to purchase health care insurance or be fined by the Internal Revenue Service.

The legislation supported the efforts of Attorney General Bill McCollum to preserve Floridians' independence to make their own health care purchasing decisions.

The legislation also ensured that a woman had the right to see an ultrasound, if she so chose, before making the decision to have an abortion in the first trimester of pregnancy. Such ultrasounds are already required in the second and third trimesters before an abortion can be performed. Additionally, according to a 2008 legislative analysis, 82% of abortion providers in the state of Florida already require an ultrasound prior to performing first trimester abortions, and the ultrasound is already included in the cost of the abortion procedure.

The ultrasound would be used to determine vital information relating to the procedure such as confirming the pregnancy, determining gestational age, and checking for any special circumstances such as an ectopic pregnancy. For over 80% of Florida abortion providers, such ultrasounds are already standard medical practice. This legislation sought to give women the information they need to make an informed decision while at the same time improving quality of care and safety.

A woman who does not wish to view her ultrasound or listen to an oral description has the specific right to decline by signing a simple form. The bill exempted cases of rape, incest and situations where the life of the mother is in jeopardy.

America is at a crossroads.

Its time to stand and cry out for the life of the unborn. As we pray for our government to uphold LIFE, we have a responsibility in our own region to be a witness. After all, abortions are happening right here in our own local communities. Let us stand and ask God to subpoena the conscience of America by standing in our own communities.

This past weekend around 14,000 people gathered in Houston for the Call to gather together in massive fasting and prayer for America to come back to righteousness, for the ending of abortion, and the sending of a another Great Awakening to America.

Sunday night 10,000 gathered for six hours of prayer in a solemn assembly.

The following morning was tense in the spiritual realm. Two events were planned: a silent prayer march through the minority neighborhoods around the Planned Parenthood clinic, and a silent prayer siege around the Planned Parenthood clinic itself.

At the march around 10,000 silently walked through these minority neighborhoods as a subpoena to the consciences of the families of America.

The largest silent prayer siege ever took place that morning as 4,200 people stood for five hours straight as a wall around the 2nd largest abortion clinic in the world. The Lord poured out a supernatural spirit of grace and strength to stand and stay focused in prayer. For hours people were unmoved in their stance for life.

This event was a severe blow to the principalities and ideologies that keep our Nation in a choke-hold of immorality and ungodliness. We must remember that we "...do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age..." Eph 6:12

The Call Houston and the Planned Parenthood silent prayer siege has been featured on many different local and national news. (I'm pretty excited about that.) I believe this is a call to conscience through the news unintentionally bringing awareness. Here's one local news video:

This month a small team from IHOP-TLH will be making the journey up to Houston, TX to pray for the ending of abortion in the midst of Planned Parenthood building the 2nd largest abortion mega-center in the world. This "mega-center" is right in the middle of 4 minority neighborhoods. 3 average to 85% Latino and the other is 85% Black American. Planned Parenthood is targeting these minority pro-family communities, both for their finances and the restriction of their populations.

On Jan 18th, Martin Luther King Jr.'s holiday, we will gather by the thousands to launch a silent prayer march through the streets to the abortion "mega-center" for a nationwide press conference and prayer stand. As Martin Luther King Jr. would proclaim it - It is time to "subpoena the conscience" of the nation.

Please join us in fasting and prayer to see this clinic not be built and truth to be brought to the minds of Americans.

Last week CNN ran an extraordinary report called "Abortion support falls sharply, new research finds." In it they cite a new Pew study released last week that strongly reinforces research that emerged at the beginning of the summer showing that the majority of Americans have switched from being pro-choice to being pro-life. This dramatic shift in public opinion marks a turning point in the nation and the abortion debate.
