How God Changed a Heart and Saved a Baby

How God Changed a Heart and Saved a Baby

This is a short story to encourage you that the impact of your live is bigger than you think. God can (and I believe does) use you to literally save lives through your simple acts of obedience in regards to opposing abortion.

In the weeks leading up the election, our house of prayer partnered with other Christian organizations to help distribute non-partisan, pro-family, pro-life voters guides to approximately 75,000 people in Tallahassee. A small work force was hired from a temp agency to help go door-to-door and pass out these guides. Given that they were hired from a third-party agency, it’s safe to say that most didn’t agree with the godly message they were passing out.

Over the week of interacting with one of our directors, Pam Olsen; reading the Voter's guides on abortion and biblical issues over and over again –– as well as through seeing sincere prayers being prayed in the prayer room –– some of these workers' hearts began to change. One young man said he understands now that the life of the unborn is important to protect. He asked for a LIFE band and the LIFE prayer and covenant was explained to him. Taking the life band covenant, he vowed before God to pray daily for the ending of abortion, to only vote for pro-life candidates, and to do acts of justice & compassion.

Several days later, the day before the presidential election, this young man returned to the prayer room with an indelible excitement. He spoke of how he found out that one of his friends was pregnant and was considering an abortion. This young man told his friend that she can’t abort that baby because it is really a life, and that abortion is murder. “She decided to keep the baby!” said the young man with excitement. He gave her his LIFE band! He asked for another LIFE band and put it on proudly. He was also asked who he would be voting for in the election and he said "all the pro-life leaders, like the voter's guide shows."

God used this young man to save a baby’s life! In the process, two hearts were changed and one heart was saved. The repercussions of one’s stand for righteousness and act of obedience ripples beyond our imagination, and multiplies into a resounding shout of truth.

Florida Abortions Fall 19% – A History of Answered Prayer

Florida Abortions Fall 19% – A History of Answered Prayer
Posted on Monday, Jun 11th, '12 by Evan Olsen

A little over a week ago, Sunshine State News reported that the abortion rate in Florida has dropped a staggering 19% from 2008 to 2011, and that downward trend is continuing this year. Though there are many dynamics attributed to this outcome, we believe this is an answer to an orchestrated effort of focused, unyielding intercession from thousands of believers in this state.

While this massive answer to prayer is God's response to many believers who have not relented in their appeals to the courts of heaven, this post is a brief prophetic history of our efforts in praying and laboring for the ending of abortion in Florida capital city, Tallahassee.

In 2007, we started a Bound4LIFE chapter and began praying at the Florida Supreme Court. Around 7 months later in 2008, we participated in Bound4LIFE's nation-wide prayer meeting called The Mercy Seat, where 6,200 gathered to pray at every Supreme Court in the nation simultaneously. Nearly 600 residents joined us throughout the 7 hour solemn assembly outside of the Florida Supreme Court, pleading Jesus' blood and praying for God’s mercy to turn to our state.

We often don’t understand that the timeline of intercession is commonly answered in years. At the end of 2009, Gallup Poll released this shocking data: a majority of Americans identified themselves as pro-life for the first time in over a decade. This unprecedented shift in opinion began sometime after (or during) The Mercy Seat.

This isn’t coincidence. This is power through prayer.

Stand4LIFE May 7th, 2011
Posted on Monday, Mar 28th, '11 by Evan Olsen
Stand4LIFE is a movement to end abortion in the state of Florida. On Saturday, May 7th, thousands will gather at abortion clinics all over the state standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer -- asking God to end abortion, increase adoptions and send revival to Florida. As we pray for our government to uphold life, we have a responsibility in our own region to be a witness. The church is required to be the conscience of America. Let’s start in our own backyards.

On May 7, thousands will gather in silent prayer from 10am-12pm, covering every abortion center in Florida. We will lay aside our denominational differences and preferences to be the demonstration of justice for those who have no voice. We will come as a silent force with one message: LIFE.

How you can participate

Mobilize a Stand4LIFE event in your region

If you are interested in becoming a mobilizer for your area, please email Info@Resound247.com. We need your help. Consider being the coordinator for your church or school. It takes a coordinated effort to get a community to make a stand.

Mobilizing 15 Days of State-Wide Prayer!

Mobilizing 15 Days of State-Wide Prayer!
Posted on Tuesday, Jun 8th, '10 by Evan Olsen

Florida's healthcare bill containing key pro-life amendments, H.B. 1143, has officially arrived on Gov. Crist's desk as of Monday, June 7th, 2010. Starting today, the countdown begins for the consecutive 15-day period of time that Gov. Crist has to sign or veto the bill. Gov. Crist has stated that he would use all 15 days to "gain more wisdom."

We believe that this is a divine invitation from God. What would happen if the praying Church arose in faith, crying out for God to fill Gov. Crist with wisdom from heaven during these 15 days? Scripture is filled with answered prayers to similar situations, from the in-breaking of God's mercy in Esther's day, to Saul's dramatic conversion. Could we be in a similar situation?

Already, God has been responding in Florida as multitudes have gathered in prayer and fasting for the ending of abortion in this state: from a state-wide Solemn Assembly (4/24) conducted by Bound4LIFE leaders in Florida, to a state-wide Silent Siege changing hearts and saving babies' lives. God's hand has been in this from the beginning. Undoubtedly, prayer and fasting is God's strategy for releasing mercy and blessing upon a land in crisis, rather than judgment (Joel 2). We believe the success in the passing of these pro-life measures thus far is due to God answering our corporate, unyielding prayer. Prayerfully, this stirs your faith, as our response in this moment is of great value in God's eyes. Let us not give up or relax or resolve, but faithfully hold the line of intercession for LIFE in this hour. You are key to this moment!

During the corresponding 15-day period of time, starting tomorrow (6/08), we are asking you to join in 15 days of prayer and fasting with multitudes of others across the nation for Florida, praying that God would fill Gov. Crist with wisdom from heaven and turn his heart. As scripture proclaims, "The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes." - Prov. 21:1

I believe the Lord will release breakthrough in this matter as we ask Him together. Your intercession will join our local efforts in Florida's capital city as Bound4LIFE Tallahassee conducts Silent Sieges, every Monday-Friday from Noon-1pm inside the Capitol Rotunda. There is still hope in this hour.

There are a few ways you can participate:

1. Pray and fast during the 15 days.

- Pray and fast daily for God to release wisdom for Governor Crist and for the ending of abortion.

2. Call and email Gov. Crist: 850-488-7146, Charlie.Crist@myflorida.com

- In your own words, urge Gov. Crist to sign HB 1143 into law.

IF YOU LIVE IN TALLAHASSEE OR STOP THROUGH THE CITY:

1. Bound4LIFE-TLH Silent Sieges: Monday-Friday from Noon-1pm in the Capitol Rotunda

- Silent prayer siege for the ending of abortion and sending of revival.

2. Justice Intercession Set: Thursdays 8-10pm

- Focused time of intercession and worship for the release of breakthrough in this matter

Will you join in prayer and fasting to cry out for Governor Crist for the 15 days to "gain more wisdom"? God could yet intervene and turn Gov. Crist's heart to defend the life of the unborn. Across the state of Florida and in our nation, let us collectively partner with God's heart in this matter!

In Christ,
Jared Olsen | Bound4LIFE Tallahassee Chapter Leader

FL House & Senate Pass Ultrasound Amendment

FL House & Senate Pass Ultrasound Amendment
Posted on Monday, May 3rd, '10 by Evan Olsen

Last week Florida House and Senate passed some very important legislation concerning FL abortions. The amendment requires women to undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion. Doctors or nurses must also describe the development of the fetus according to what is seen in the ultrasound. Women can choose to not see the ultrasound but will need to sign off in that instance.

The Orlando Sentinel reports:
The Florida House approved a contentious anti-abortion measure today requiring pregnant women pay for an ultrasound exam before receiving an abortion, sending it to Gov. Charlie Crist for his signature or veto.

The abortion restriction, unveiled in the closing days of the 2010 legislative session, opened raw and emotional divisions among legislators as they prepared to leave Tallahassee for the summer. The debate was so heated and, at times, graphic, House Republican leaders ordered teenage pages off the House floor and cleared the public galleries of children. Two Democrats wept as they spoke against the ultrasound mandate.

Largely along party lines, the Republican-controlled House approved the abortion bill 76-44 Friday. The Senate had voted for the measure a day earlier, 23-16.

Opponents called the ultrasound mandate a government intrusion on a decision that should be left to women. “Stand down if you don’thave ovaries,” said Rep. Janet Long, D-Tampa.

Republicans characterized the bill as an attempt to give pregnant women more information before choosing to have an abortion. Several Republicans decried abortion and the 1973 Supreme Court decision that gave constitutional protections to the procedure, Roe v. Wade.

Rep. Kelli Stargel, R-Lakeland, who had an unplanned pregnancy as a senior in high school, said women should see the heartbeat, arms and legs before choosing to have an abortion.

Here is an a short email from Rep. Charles Van Zant, who has been a strong proponent in the FL House for the unborn; and has been a great contact person during this session:

House Dems Try to Shut Down the Show Over Abortion Amendment

House Dems Try to Shut Down the Show Over Abortion Amendment
Posted on Thursday, Apr 29th, '10 by Evan Olsen

I just got an email about this. We need to pray now -- today -- for this.

TALLAHASSEE — House Democrats have temporarily shut down the chamber to try and block an abortion passed by the Senate from coming up for final passage.

Although Republicans hold a 76-44 majority in the chamber, taking up bills that have been sent over “in messages” from the other chamber require a two-thirds vote on the floor. The Democrats just blocked the House from taking up an unrelated bill as a test-run and plan to fight every bill in an attempt to run out the clock and block the bill.

The Senate voted 22-17 Wednesday in favor of a new government mandate that women seeking abortions must pay for ultrasounds and, in most cases, view live images of the fetus. They also adopted an amendment banning abortion coverage for individuals and businesses who buy insurance under insurance exchanges in President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul passed by Congress earlier this year.

House Majority Office staff director Todd Reid said Democrats had threatened to bring the chamber to a halt in the final two days of session unless they got a pledge from House Speaker Larry Cretul that the abortion bill wouldn’t be brought up. Reid said the House — which has passed the language in past years – would love to take up the abortion bill, but the chamber has taken a break until 11:30 a.m. to try and figure things out.

“We have very little leverage in this process,” said Rep. Kelly Skidmore, D-Boca Raton. “This is our leverage. We’re willing to let our bills due to prove our point.”

The victim of the procedural move is a bill clamping down on identity-theft artists who use pizza-delivery fliers at motels to get credit card numbers. Rep. Mike Horner, R-Kissimmee, has been pushing the non-controversial measure after a wave of such activity broke out last year in Orange and Osceola counties around the theme parks.
Wait, what?!
Now that effort is on hold.

“The pizza bill blew up the session,” Horner joked. “This is oging to determine how the last two days will turn out.”

Our legislative process is interesting.
